The AEMPS declares war on illegal websites

The AEMPS has recently launched the Strategy Against Counterfeit Medicinal Products 2016-2019 which includes among its objectives "to develop a specific action plan against illegal medicines sales over the Internet". Although the Agency admits an increase in national proceedings, the complexity of these interventions and their low efficiency is not concealed. To reduce this problem, the AEMPS proposes a series of actions such as for example the adoption of agreements with internet services providers in order to take action against illicit websites; to establish monitoring programs for use of the European common logo, in collaboration with the autonomous regions, and the maintenance and updating of Distafarma, application that hosts pharmacies certified by the AEMPS.
