Charge dropped against man who had been accused in Canadian pharmacy case

Ram Kamath, an Illinois man, reached a deal to defer his prosecution. Kamath had been accused of conspiring with an online Canadian pharmacy to smuggle mislabeled, unapproved and counterfeit prescription drugs into the United States. While Kamath is considered as a small player in the alleged conspiracy, he is only one of 14 defendants from three countries to appear in court thus far and face charges. The deferred prosecution agreement allows Kamath a certain amount of time to complete requirements set by prosecutors to avoid prosecution.
