FDA takes action to protect consumers from potentially dangerous counterfeit medicines and devices sold online

The US Food and Drug Administration took part in the Eighth Annual International Internet Week of Action (IIWA), a global effort also known as Operation Pangea VIII. The objective of Operation Pangea VIII was to identify the makers and distributors of illegal prescription drugs and medical devices, and remove those products and sellers from the supply chain. As a result, action was taken on some 1,050 websites that were selling dangerous and unapproved prescription drugs and medical devices to consumers.
