Indian telemarketer of foreign-made drugs goes to federal prison
Naresh Kumar Chintala, 33, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and dispense prescription drugs without a prescription. Chintala was a telemarketer who worked for an Indian company that sold prescription drugs to consumers without prescriptions. The telemarketers lied to the customers telling them that the drugs they were selling were FDA-approved and manufactured in the United States when in fact there were neither. Additionally the parcel labels being shipped to the consumers were disguised so the products were not easily recognizable by law enforcement.
