NABP report urges Internet drug website accountability
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy released an updated Progress Report dated July 2015. The report covers the current trends regarding illicit online pharmacies. Within the data, NABP finds that 96% of the 11,000 drug websites visited do not comply with current online pharmacy laws and regulations. Of the sites that NABP lists as “Not Recommended” approximately 85% currently sell prescription drugs without requiring a valid prescription. NABP has also introduced the global .pharmacy Top-Level Domain Program only issuing “.pharmacy” domains to those online pharmacies that are legitimate.
