Philippines survey exposes illegal medicine problem

A survey done by the Philippines’ Department of Health was released as part of the Philippines’ National Consciousness Week Against Counterfeit Medicines. The statistics revealed that 81 percent of the 546 products analyzed were not registered by the Philippines Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Additional data showed that 13 percent were diverted products intended for sale in other markets, and six percent were counterfeit.
