South Florida man involved with online pharmacy sentenced to prison

A Hollywood (Fl) man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for his involvement in an online pharmacy that federal authorities said distributed pills without valid prescriptions and examinations. Craig Greer, 44, was accused of sending emails to customers promoting the pharmacy and contacting people to request that they refill their prescriptions, according to a May 2014 indictment. He was one of seven people facing federal charges related to the pharmacy, which had a physical office located in Pembroke Pines. Federal authorities in the state of Washington said the business made more than $9 million, distributing medications including Hydrocodone, Xanax and Codeine to about 200 customers in that state alone. Greer was an officer with the Davie Police Department until 2004 and was with the Miami Police Department before that, according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement records. He pleaded guilty to distributing controlled substances via the Internet and was ordered to forfeit $88,635.
