Stolen meningitis vaccines in Cofaga’s warehouse (Spain)

Several units of Bexero, meningitis type B vaccine, have been stolen in Cofaga’s installations. Apparently, they could be a total of thirteen units drawn from the warehouse of the company, from which the events were reported after learning of the lack of these doses. Hector Castro, president of the Association of Pharmacists of A Coruña, insists that "laboratories can only provide the vaccine through the legal circuit", so all doses acquired outside could be counterfeit: "We know that falsified medicines are sold in the illegal market, copies or treatments that have left the legal circuit and they cannot have effects on the body or, what is worse, they could be highly harmful ", he noted. Also Castro said that some professional associations and the AEMPS are preparing a joint campaign in the short term to prevent citizens to buy prescription medicines over the internet.
