Icann, Regulators Clash Over Illegal Online Drug Sales

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) is the closest entity to an Internet regulator. Icann oversees approximately 1,100 registrars that sell web addresses and regulators believe that they play a critical role in the crackdown of all types of illicit online operators including illicit online pharmacies. The illegal drug trade has been flourishing on the Internet and regulators such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Interpol want Icann to be more responsive and proactive.
