Tim Ramsey, a 59-year-old ex-policeman now spends his days looking online for knockoff pharmaceuticals on illicit online marketplaces. The rapidly growing illicit online pharmacy business is a serious threat to the consumers’ health and to the pharmaceutical industry as a whole. On one of the websites alone, the number of prescription medicines listed rose 50 percent from March to August. What worries Ramsey the most is the ease of accessing such illicit websites even by tech neophytes.
