Beware buying drugs from online pharmacies, warns Hong Kong Consumer Council

The Hong Kong Consumer Council noted that shoppers buying drugs or health products online are generally attracted to low prices and convenience. Continuing to say that consumers need to beware of the health hazards associated with purchasing such products online because of adulterated and unidentified ingredients. No pharmacy in Hong Kong is authorized to sell controlled medicines to individuals via the Internet. Professor Michael Hui King-man quoted the World Health Organization (WHO) stating that half of the medicines sold by online pharmacies are counterfeit.
