A Special Representative office will now exist at the African Union. The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atske-selassie and INTERPOL Secretary General, Jurgen Stock. Recent operations in Africa supported by INTERPOL have led to the seizure of approximately 150 tons of counterfeit and illicit medicines. State Minister Atsek-selassie stated, “Signing this agreement opens a new era of cooperation between Ethiopia as the host country of the African Union and INTERPOL, and is to be welcomed at many levels.”
