It feels like being on Amazon: The customer picks, orders, pays, and a postman delivers the product to an address. But there are two main differences: The products they sell are illegal drugs and they are paid in Bitcoin, the online money that doesn’t leave any trace. “What are we doing here? We are fighting a war against online drug trafficker. But I also like to think that today my mission is also to protect the youths,” Giuseppe Grimaldi, from Italy’s anti-drug’s unit, said. The operation, called ‘drug @ online’ has been working with the central management of antidrug services since 2014: Grimaldi’s ‘men’ are 15 agents that have as a duty to monitor illicit drug networks online and coordinate repression activities on the territory.
