ITALIAN NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The National Conference, aimed at consumers’ and professional associations, deals with the activities carried out in order to tackle the illegal selling of medicines on internet.

Object of the first introductory session are the description of the general framework and the risks related to purchase of medicines from unauthorized resellers; an illustration of the activities already done and of the tools already developed within the project follows, in particular:

• the website www.fakeshare.eu, offering the possibility to verify the legitimacy of epharmacies and the authenticity of suspicious products
• awareness activities about the risks related to fake medicines
• the results of the surveys conducted in Italy, Spain and Portugal with the objective of identifying the socio-structural and attitudinal variables that can induce the intention of buying medicines online

The presentation of the regulatory framework for the selling of medicines at a distance in respect of the Directive 2011/62/EU follows, with particular regards to its transposition in the Italian judicial system.

At the end of the first session, the Conference offers the chance to see real current cases of illegal e-pharmacies and the related initiatives to protect citizens.

The second session offers the opportunity to debate and discuss on the issue of online selling of medicines in order to deepen and clarify the themes presented in the first session.
