America’s favorite illegal Canadian import? Prescription drugs

With the cost of prescription drugs continuing to surge, many Americans are turning to online pharmacies such as “Canadadrugs.com” to save money. Peter Rice, a professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy notes that while the drugs are cheaper, they cannot guarantee their safety to the consumers. “They’re going on the website to a pharmacy that says it`s a Canadian pharmacy and says that it`s approved and says the medicines are safe. They`re buying it over the Internet and there`s no guarantee that`s even a real pharmacy.” Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) adds that Americans who import medications from Canada are breaking the law and putting their lives at risk since these drugs do not meet FDA approval.
