Internet medicine sales top $1 trillion

With a total value of 7 trillion yuan last year or $1.1 trillion US dollars, online sales of medicines are increasing rapidly in China. These figures in comparison with years prior show the steep climb that China’s online medical marketplace is experiencing. In 2013, the value was 4.3 trillion yuan and only 100 million yuan in 2010. Head of the China Food and Drug Administration’s 12320 hotline, Liu Pei, warns consumers to be cautious and only buy drugs from government-authorized online sellers.
