Pharmacists will collaborate with Civil Guard to facilitate investigations

The Official Association of Pharmacists of Madrid (COFM) will collaborate with the Civil Guard to facilitate investigations related to falsified prescriptions and illegal medicines trafficking. This collaboration has been highlighted in a meeting headed by President of the COFM, Luis Gonzalez and Chief Colonel Commander of the Civil Guard in Madrid, Santiago Caballero, in which proposals for collaboration and improve communication between the two institutions have been suggested. This collaboration will be reflected on issues such as counterfeit prescriptions, illegal trafficking of medicines or theft. The meeting is part of the initiative carried out by the COFM to exchange ideas with other associations and it is performed after the publication of the new "Strategy against counterfeit medicines", developed by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS).
